If you keep faith I will exist at the edge,
where your vision joins
the sunlight and the rain: heads in the light
feet that go down in the mud where the truth is.

Meet Amber
My journey in medicine began when I lived and worked as a journalist in Latin America, covering issues of indigenous sovereignty. There was my first exposure to the ancient wisdom of herbal medicine and natural healing. A deep and enduring love of place-based and intergenerational medicine began there in rural Mexico and lives on here, in the misty jungle of the Pacific Northwest.
Later, upon returning to the U.S., I worked with a local homeopath while serving as an interpreter for our county clinic system. These opportunities opened my eyes to the power of deep listening and the healing that is possible when one’s story is truly heard. This is now the foundation of my practice.
In addition, it was a gift to discover Classical Chinese Medicine through the robust program held at the National College of Natural Medicine. The 5,000 year old science of Chinese Medicine contains our connection to nature and all that surrounds us including the seasons, the five elements, and how our body is a microcosm of the outer world. This perspective deeply influenced my way of seeing and understanding the nature of healing.
My love of stories, the natural world, social justice and a deepening understanding of what it means to be human inspire my work everyday. I aspire to create new possibilities from the wisdom of the old ways.
Onwards!
“She thoughtfully intertwines her deep and ever-growing knowledge of a variety of modalities. More impactful is Amber’s incredible awareness of and ability to tend to body, emotion and spirit with great caring, safety and respect. She treats me as a partner in my own healing which has been so empowering.”
My training
I graduated with Honors from National College of Natural Medicine in 2016 with a Master’s degree in Classical Chinese Medicine and a certificate in Homeopathy.
Chinese Herbal Tradition Residency for 2.5 year with renowned Chinese herbalist Dr. Heiner Fruehauf at the Hai Shan Clinic in Corbett, OR. This amazing lineage informs all of my formulary thinking, and I am forever grateful for the time I spent sweeping floors and looking over the doctor’s shoulders as he created herbal formulas.
Western Herbal Tradition Apprenticeship to two esteemed women in the northwest plant herbal tradition- Cascade Anderson Geller and Elise Krohn. I continue to work with Elise to develop seasonal material through the lenses of Chinese and local medicinal plant knowledge.
Homeopathy I am honored to study under Doug Brown, constitutional Homeopath in Portland, the lifelong learning of Homeopathy. This is my first love of natural medicine, and dovetails and builds upon my year spent as a student with Seattle School of Homeopathy and receiving a certificate of study from NUNM.
Astrology The way of the stars and planets, the patterns that evolve and how we are able to track them continues to amaze me. I gratefully get to explore this realm with local astrologer, storyteller and myth maker Carol Ferris.
